Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
OCTOBER - WEEK TWO
Book of the Bible: Acts Theme of the Book: The amazing beginning of the Church as Jesus intended it to be: beginning in Jerusalem and spreading all the way to Rome Main Character(s): Peter, John, James, Stephen, Philip, Paul, Barnabas, Luke The “Red Thread”: The Book of Acts gives a thorough account of Jesus' Ministry, as it was being passed on through His disciples who were eye witnesses to His salvation message. This was in fulfillment of the Great Commission given by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20. Key Verses: Acts 1:8; 2:42; and 14:27
Jesus said... 'but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.' And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. And when they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to report all things that God had done for them and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.
