Weekly Devotional – 2010 The Red Thread Series
A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.
DECEMBER - WEEK ONE
Book of the Bible: 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy Theme of the Book: Paul writes two letters to his son in the faith teaching him the powerful truths of salvation, the person of Christ and His second coming, and church organization. In the second letter, Paul writes his final thoughts for the church and Timothy specifically. Main Character(s): Paul, Timothy, Luke, and Mark The “Red Thread”: Paul describes Jesus as "manifested in the flesh." Paul continues to remind Timothy of the person of Christ. Key Verses: 1 Timothy 3:16; 2 Timothy 3:16-17
By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up into glory. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
APPLICATION:
- What am I doing today to introduce others to Jesus?
- Is the Scripture my all sufficient Word for every need in life?
- How can I utilize the Inspired Word to encourage others today?
