WEEKLY DEVOTIONALS – 2011
The Bible – Absolute Truth – Week 25 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
What is Absolute Truth? In the past 24 weeks I have shared with you some of the Absolute Truths of the Bible. Today, however, one may say, "For you, the Bible is Absolute Truth, but it isn’t for me." What would be your response to that statement? In a book written by Josh McDowell and Bob Hostetler entitled Beyond Belief to Conviction they make a statement that I would like to share with you. We need more than personal opinion or lightly held suspicions about God, truth, and reality; we need conviction. If each of us and our young people are going to risk rejection, persecution, or even worse, we need to be sure that we are committing our lives to something genuine, something true, something real. (p. 23)
FAITH in God must be a grounded belief in His Son, Jesus Christ, who rose from the dead and lives eternally, is coming back for His true followers, and is going to establish His new Heaven and new Earth (Revelation 21:1) for all true believers. The TRUTH of SCRIPTURE stands alone. Do you believe it? Better yet, like the Apostles, Martin Luther, and the martyrs of today…do you live it? (More to follow next week….)
THOUGHTS TO PONDER THIS WEEK
- Who do you know today who is standing for God’s truth while in persecution?
- Is Absolute Truth based on fact or feeling in your life?
- How can the truth set you free today?
