WEEKLY DEVOTIONALS – 2011
The Bible – Absolute Truth – Week 45
 
'Declare and set forth your case;
Indeed, let them consult together.
Who has announced this from of old?
Who has long since declared it?
Is it not I, the LORD?
And there is no other God besides Me,
A righteous God and a Savior; There is none except Me.’
Isaiah 45:21

Now in those days a decree went out
from Caesar Augustus, that a census
be taken of all the inhabited earth.
This was the first census taken
while Quirinius was governor of Syria...
While they were there (Joseph and Mary)
the days were completed for her to give birth.
And she gave birth to her first born Son - Jesus.
Luke 2:1-2, and 6-7a

 
As we conclude this amazing journey of discovery, once again we can be encouraged and joyful with what the body of evidence reveals about our amazing Savior and Lord.

The census was ordered by Rome. Ancient papri have found that Quirinuis was governor twice in Syria. Luke states specifically that the first census, or enrollment, is the one Joseph and Mary embarked upon for this historic event.

God’s providence is complete. As Micah 5:2-5 specifically prophesied, Jesus would be born in Bethlehem Ephrathah. We see Joseph was a Bethlehem boy. The census puts Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus in this location as the Bible - God’s Absolute Truth -prophesie.
 

THOUGHTS TO PONDER THIS WEEK
 
Jesus is the Savior - He came to earth to redeem His people from their sins.
Timing is everything - We celebrate Jesus' Birthday yearly.
